Summer Tunes at Seawind 2017

Over the years we have been happy to open our home to musicians travelling in the area. We’ve been delighted by so many performances and have loved sharing the experience with our dedicated local audience. This summer Seawind Landing has a great line-up of musicians scheduled to perform in our living room. We hope you can make it and get a good seat on the sofa. All shows are at 8:00 PM and are $15 at the door.

You can always call ahead (902)525-2108 to reserve a seat!

First up, on June 18 we’re pleased to welcome Rosie Newton and Richie Stearns from Ithaca, NY. This dynamic duo play old-time Appalachain style banjo and fiddle that continues to push the boundaries of this rich tradition. Rosie Newton is a talented fiddler and singer and a graduate from Ithaca College with a degree in viola performance. Stearns is a legendary banjo player and singer, and has led bands including the Horse Flies, and Donna the Buffalo and currently tours with Natalie Merchant.

On Friday, July 21, make your way to Charlos Cove for a night of blues with the legendary Morgan Davis. Over the years Davis has played alongside blues legends Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, Hubert Sumlin, Sunnyland Slim, Snooky Pryor, James Harmon, Gene Taylor, Dutch Mason, Gene Taylor and many others. And now, after 45 years on the road, he’s finally made it to the Cove.  This is a don’t miss event!

We’re not ones to rush the season, but we are looking forward to August 15th and a visit and performance from our favourite Winnipeg trio, Red Moon Road. Gifted singer-songerwriters all, Sheena and the two Daniels make friends and fans at every stop, this one included.  Whether you’re a long-time “Moonie” or new to their infectious music and good cheer, you won’t want to miss them in August.

On September 25th we welcome The Red Dirt Skinners. This genre-defying duo come to us from the UK for a show we’ve been looking forward to for months!  Husband and wife team Rob and Sarah Skinner fuse rockabilly, country, folk and blues into a decidely original, danceable, harmony-rich concoction.  The Skinners have won numerous awards in both blues and country categories in the UK and regularly play to sold-out audiences across Europe. Fans of Canadian couple band Whitehorse will love these guys as will you!
